To visit Guédelon is to visit a working construction site on which the craftsmen and women are working to build the castle or produce materials for the construction. Visitors can visit at their own pace, exploring the woodland, the workshops, the castle’s completed chambers, the construction site, the village and the working flour mill.

Be transported back to a medieval construction site. Your guide will discuss the work of the craftsmen; reveal the role of medieval fortresses; recount the amazing exploits of Guédelon's castle-builders; report on the construction to date and give details of the work that lies ahead.

length of visit: 1¼ hrs (allow at least an additional 2½ hrs to visit the site over and above the length of guided tour)                                                                                                                                          

timetable for pre-booked guided tours: 10 am, 11:30 am, 2 pm, 3:30 pm; tours may be booked in French, English, German and Dutch throughout the season

admission charge:  €11 per adult - €9.50 per child (5-17 yrs) -

1 free adult admission for 20 paying adults  

no admission charge for coach driver(s)

Free guide booklet in hand, at your own pace, meet the castle-builders at work on the medieval construction site. Take time to watch their work and talk to them about their crafts. Admire the castle kitchen, storeroom and rib-vaulted guardrooms; walk along the battlements; visit the Great Hall and the mural paintings in the antechamber. Head off into the forest towards the tiler, the pigment maker, the animal enclosure and the working watermill.

carving workshop

Step into the shoes of a medieval master-builder.

Complete your day with a beginners’ stone carving workshop. Try your hand at dressing soft limestone and take your handiwork home.

Workshop open to all. English-speaking workshop leaders.
