Saint-Fargeau Castle

the castle which inspired the building of Guédelon…

The idea of building a castle from scratch was born at Saint-Fargeau!

10 minutes from Guédelon, discover a castle with a history stretching through 10 centuries.

The Saint-Fargeau Historical Show
The castle grounds are transformed into an exceptional backdrop to 1000 years of history. Ghosts walk the remparts, Joan of Arc rallies her troops, hounds stream in full cry, bloodthirsty mercenaries pillage, Louis XIV’s rebellious cousin arrives in exile, the Revolution sweeps across France and American GIs liberate the towns of Puisaye… Watch History brought to life at Saint-Fargeau Castle, every Friday and Saturday evening from mid-July mid-August.

The Saint-Fargeau Castle Farm

A real working farm, just like in 1950!

Step through the farm gate and step back in time! Authenticity is the order of the day. The castle farm is a remarkable, educational place and a most enjoyable trip down memory lane, with its animals roaming freely (goats, calves, chickens, pigs, ducks, geese…). Enjoy the many activities that will delight young and old alike: savour a piece of bread fresh from the oven, bottle-feed the calves and kids, taste goat’s milk still warm, go for a pony ride around the farm, and stroke all the animals… simple pleasures, yet incredibly enriching!
A wide range of accommodation is available to extend your stay: holiday cottages, cabins and caravans sleeping between 2 and 10 people…
A group cottage for 18 people is also available.

Self-guided tours with activities are available on all opening days (see calendar at ferme-du-chateau.com).
